Z5: The zebrafish as a model organism to study vascular differentiation and remodeling

The zebrafish model is a powerful tool to study vascular differentiation and remodeling. We have established a zebrafish unit at the CBT Mannheim that offers different fish lines for expression studies and we are performing injections of morpholinos and mRNAs for loss-of-function and gain-of-function experiments. In the next funding period we are planning to improve imaging techniques, we will establish test systems to analyze pharmacological substances and growth factors and we will set up tumor cell injections to study tumor angiogenesis in zebrafish. Thus, this service project will provide an attractive platform to study the vasculature in zebrafish.
