Z5: The zebrafish as a model organism to study vascular differentiation and remodeling

The zebrafish model is a powerful tool to study processes of vascular differentiation and remodeling in vivo. During the second funding period we have performed several expression studies, loss-of-function and gain-of-function experiments in zebrafish including imaging for several SFB/TR23 investigators. In the next funding period we will further offer the zebrafish model to analyze formation, function and differentiation of the vasculature in vivo. We will advance and develop novel protocols including generation of zebrafish mutants, expression analyses, imaging techniques and tumor cell injections.
